Abstract
It is known that phytol contained in a watermelon sprout has a cancer cell growth-inhibiting effect. However, a major limitation is that a relatively high dose is required to achieve this effect. A cancer cell growth-inhibiting composition comprising, as an active ingredient, at least one compound having a structure represented by formula (123), or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, exhibit a stronger inhibitory effect on cancer cell proliferation and a lower inhibitory effect on normal cell growth compared to phytol. Therefore, it may serve as an anticancer agent with excellent selectivity toward cancer cells.
