Abstract
A synthetic single crystal diamond includes nitrogen atoms at a concentration of 200 ppm to 1500 ppm in terms of number of atoms. A Raman shift λ1 cm−1 of a peak in a first-order Raman scattering spectrum of the synthetic single crystal diamond and a Raman shift λ2 cm−1 of a peak in a first-order Raman scattering spectrum of a synthetic IIa-type single crystal diamond that has a concentration of nitrogen atoms of 1 ppm or less in terms of number of atoms exhibit a relationship of the following Formula A, −0.85<λ1−λ2≤−0.15 Formula A.
