Abstract
A food container designed with a compact diagonal dimension, including a base panel, a cover panel, and a chamfered sidewall that extends between the base and cover panels to form an interior space for storing food items. The chamfered sidewall is made up of four wall panels, each constituting a side of the container which meet at chamfered corners, creating beveled edges that connect the adjacent wall panels. The cover panel features a score line that defines a lid portion, which facilitates access to the container's interior.
Claims20
A food container, comprising:
- a base panel;
- a cover panel;
- a chamfered sidewall extending between the base panel and the cover panel to define an interior configured to house a food item, the chamfered sidewall comprising four wall panels forming four respective sides of the food container, wherein adjacent wall panels of the four wall panels meet at chamfered corners to form beveled edges connecting the adjacent wall panels;
- and
- wherein at least a portion of the cover panel includes a score line defining at least two sides of a lid portion, the score line configured to enable separation of the lid portion from the cover panel to enable access to the interior.
A method of converting a food container from a storage configuration to a food preparation configuration, comprising:
- providing the food container comprising a base panel, a cover panel, a chamfered sidewall extending between the base panel and the cover panel to define an interior configured to house a food item, the chamfered sidewall comprising four wall panels forming four respective sides of the food container, wherein adjacent wall panels meet at chamfered corners to form four beveled edges, the base panel, the cover panel, and the chamfered sidewall cooperating to define an interior configured to house the food item in the storage configuration;
- separating a lid portion from the cover panel along a score line defined by the cover panel, the score line comprising at least one of perforations, a precut line, or a line of material weakness, wherein the score line extends to at least one wall panel to partially define a hinge mechanism;
- and
- pivoting the lid portion about the hinge mechanism to an inverted position wherein a food preparation surface of the lid portion faces away from the base panel and the chamfered sidewall, thereby transitioning the food container to the food preparation configuration.
A method of using a food container, comprising:
- providing the food container comprising a base panel, a cover panel, and a chamfered sidewall extending between the base panel and the cover panel to define an interior configured to house a food item;
- separating a lid portion from the cover panel along a score line, wherein the score line extends from the cover panel to at least one wall panel to partially define a hinge mechanism;
- opening the lid portion of the food container to access the interior
- removing the food item from the interior;
- and
- pivoting the lid portion about the hinge mechanism to an inverted position such that a food preparation surface of the lid portion faces away from the base panel and the chamfered sidewall.
