Rocker insert with wave-shaped structure

A vehicle rocker assembly comprising:

• a first sill panel defining an inboard wall portion;
• a second sill panel defining an outboard wall portion, the first sill panel and the second sill panel joined together at upper and lower flange portions to define an elongated hollow interior between the inboard wall portion and the outboard wall portion;
• and
• a wave-shaped stiffening member disposed directly within the elongated hollow interior between and in contact with the inboard wall portion and the outboard wall portion, the wave-shaped stiffening member comprising a metal sheet having crest portions and trough portions alternating along a length of the metal sheet,
• wherein the crest portions and the trough portions of the wave-shaped stiffening member comprise a consistent cross-sectional shape extending laterally between an inner edge and an outer edge of the metal sheet and are configured to carry a lateral load path between the inboard wall portion and the outboard wall portion.

A vehicle rocker assembly comprising:

• a sill structure having an inboard wall portion and an outboard wall portion defining an elongated hollow interior therebetween;
• and
• a stiffening insert disposed within the elongated hollow interior, the stiffening insert consisting of a metal sheet formed into a wave-shaped structure having crest portions and trough portions alternating at spaced locations along a length of the metal sheet,
• wherein the crest portions and the trough portions extend between an inner edge and an outer edge of the metal sheet,
• wherein the inner edge bears directly against the inboard wall portion or the outer edge bears directly against the outboard wall portion.
