Device customization

A system, the system comprising:

• an imprinting component;
• a processor;
• a memory device that stores instructions that, when executed by the processor, causes the system to:
• identify, using a device customization system, an image to be imprinted onto a surface of a device, wherein the surface of the device is coated with a layer of phase-change paint;
• identify, using the device customization system, portions of the image;
• and
• generate imprinting instructions and transmit the imprinting instructions to the imprinting component of the device customization system, wherein generating the imprinting instructions comprises assigning each of the identified portions of the image with a color that is enabled by the phase-change paint, and wherein the imprinting instructions are configured to cause the imprinting component to imprint the image onto the surface of the device by affecting the phase-change paint based upon the colors that are assigned to the portions of the image.

A product, the product comprising:

• a computer-readable storage device that stores executable code that, when executed by a processor, causes the product to:
• identify, using a device customization system, an image to be imprinted onto a surface of a device, wherein the surface of the device is coated with a layer of phase-change paint;
• identify, using the device customization system, portions of the image;
• and
• generate imprinting instructions and transmit the imprinting instructions to an imprinting component of the device customization system, wherein generating the imprinting instructions comprises assigning each of the identified portions of the image with a color that is enabled by the phase-change paint, and wherein the imprinting instructions are configured to cause the imprinting component to imprint the image onto the surface of the device by affecting the phase-change paint based upon the colors that are assigned to the portions of the image.
