Liquid ejection apparatus, image forming apparatus, and image forming system

A liquid ejection apparatus having a circulation channel through which liquid is supplied to a liquid ejection head and recovered from the liquid ejection head, the liquid ejection apparatus comprising:

• a conveyor configured to convey a recording medium;
• a paper jam detector configured to detect a paper jam of the recording medium;
• and
• a controller,
• wherein the circulation channel includes
• a first manifold leading to a supply port of the liquid ejection head,
• a second manifold leading to a recovery port of the liquid ejection head via a recovery channel,
• a drainage channel branching from the recovery channel,
• a drainage tank leading to the drainage channel, and
• a switching mechanism configured to switch between a first state in which the recovery port of the liquid ejection head communicates with the second manifold and a second state in which the recovery port of the liquid ejection head communicates with the drainage channel, and
• wherein the controller controls the switching mechanism such that the first state is switched to the second state after the paper jam is detected by the paper jam detector.
