Abstract
A composite structure and methods of forming a composite structure are presented. The composite structure comprises a plurality of pre-kitted ply sets with a same ply layup positioned to form continuous plies. Each pre-kitted ply set of the plurality of pre-kitted ply sets comprises a first ply having a first shape and an overhang on a first side of the ply layup; and a second ply overlying the first ply, the second ply having a second shape.
Claims23
A composite structure comprising:a plurality of pre-kitted ply sets with a same ply layup positioned to form continuous plies, each pre-kitted ply set of the plurality of pre-kitted ply sets comprising:a first ply having a first shape and an overhang on a first side of the ply layup;
- anda second ply overlying at least a portion of the first ply, the second ply having a second shape.

A method of forming a composite structure comprising:laying a first pre-kitted ply set onto a tool, the first pre-kitted ply set comprising a ply layup comprising a first ply having a first shape and an overhang on a first side of the ply layup and a second ply overlying the first ply, the second ply having a second shape;
- andlaying a second pre-kitted ply set onto the tool abutting the first pre-kitted ply set to form continuous plies, the second pre-kitted ply set comprising the ply layup, wherein a first ply of the second pre-kitted ply set abuts the first ply of the first pre-kitted ply set and a second ply of the second pre-kitted ply set abuts the second ply of the first pre-kitted ply set.
