A book retrieval method for an intelligent dual-sided library book retrieval and return system, comprising the following steps:

• Step 1. A reader inputs borrowing information at a terminal located at a delivery port;
• Step 2. The library borrowing and returning system guides a robot to the target location via a multi-level spatial coding positioning system;
• Step 3. The robot retrieves the corresponding book bin and transports it to the delivery port;
• Step 4. The reader takes the book from the bin.

A book return method for an intelligent dual-sided library book retrieval and return system, comprising the following steps:

• Step 1. A reader inputs return information at a terminal located at a delivery port;
• Step 2. The library borrowing and returning system instructs a robot to transport an empty book bin to the delivery port;
• Step 3. The reader places the returned book into the bin;
• Step 4. The robot returns the bin to its original position via the multi-level spatial coding positioning system.
