Abstract
A first stamp and a second stamp are printed on the surface of a golf ball such that a transition printed area of the first stamp overlaps a transition printed area of the second stamp to create an overlap printed area between a main printed area of the first stamp and a main printed area of the second stamp. An ink density of the main printed area of the first stamp, an ink density of the main printed area of the second stamp, and an ink density of the overlap printed area are approximately the same after both the first stamp and the second stamp are printed on the surface of the golf ball.
Claims20
A printing plate, comprising:
- an etching pattern formed in a surface of the printing plate, the etching pattern comprising:
- a first etch section having a first etch depth corresponding to a main printed area, and
- a second etch section having a second etch depth less than the first etch depth and corresponding to a transition printed area,
- wherein the first etch section and the second etch section are configured to produce printed areas having different ink densities.
A printing plate, comprising:
- an etching pattern comprising a first etch section and a second etch section having a same etch depth,
- wherein the second etch section comprises protrusions such that the second etch section has a reduced etch volume relative to the first etch section.
A method for printing a marking on a golf ball, comprising:
- arranging a golf ball relative to a printing pad for printing at a site on a surface of the golf ball;
- applying ink to a printing plate having an etching pattern comprising a first etch section having a first etch depth and a second etch section having a second etch depth less than the first etch depth;
- contacting the printing pad to the printing plate such that the ink arranged in the etching pattern is transferred to the surface of the printing pad;
- and
- printing a stamp on the site with the printing pad, the stamp comprising a main printed area and a transition printed area corresponding to the first etch section and the second etch section, respectively.
