Abstract
A QS-21 saponin composition used as a standalone immune adjuvant or in an immune adjuvant system or as a cancer therapeutic. The QS-21 saponin composition includes an apiose (V1) isomers and xylose (V2) isomers ratio ranging between 60:40 and 0.1:99.9, wherein both isomers are present. The QS-21 saponin composition having a modified isomeric ratio has been found to provide greater adjuvanticity and no difference in toxicity as compared to a standard QS-21 compound containing apiose (V1) isomers and xylose (V2) isomers in a ratio ranging between 65:35 and 75:25.

A QS-21 saponin composition modified by its isomeric ratio of QS-21 apiose saponin isomer and QS-21 xylose saponin isomer within the composition to provide a modified QS-21 saponin composition comprising:
- a QS-21 apiose (V1) saponin isomer and a QS-21 xylose (V2) saponin isomer in a ratio ranging between 60:40 (V1:V2) and 0.1:99.9 (V1:V2), whereas a standard QS-21 saponin composition comprises a QS-21 apiose (V1) saponin isomer and a QS-21 xylose (V2) saponin isomer in a ratio ranging between 65:35 (V1:V2) and 75:25 (V1:V2).
