Abstract
Aerosols of 5-methoxy-N, N-dimethyltryptamine (5-MeO-DMT) or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof are provided which are useful for administration to a patient through an inhalation route. The aerosols have aerosol particle mass densities in the range of about 0.5 mg/l to about 12.5 mg/l.
Claims30
A pharmaceutical composition comprising:
- an aerosol comprising a therapeutically effective amount of aerosol particles of 5-methoxy-N,N-dimethyltryptamine (5-MeO-DMT) and/or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof in a pharmaceutically acceptable gas,
- wherein the aerosol particles have a mass median aerodynamic diameter (MMAD) of 0.1 μm to 3 μm, and
- wherein the aerosol is contained in a volume for single inhalation by a patient.
A method of treating major depressive disorder (MDD), the method comprising:
- administering to a patient diagnosed with major depressive disorder a pharmaceutical aerosol comprising a therapeutically effective amount of aerosol particles of 5-methoxy-N,N-dimethyltryptamine (5-MeO-DMT) and/or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof,
- wherein the administration achieves clinical remission of the major depressive disorder.
