Prosthetic heart valve

A heart valve prosthesis comprising:

• an annular frame extending along a valve axis between a first end of the heart valve prosthesis and a second end of the heart valve prosthesis, the annular frame comprising a plurality of frame members and configured to be adjustable between a radially-collapsed position and a radially-expanded position, a first frame member of the plurality of frame members comprising a first opening extending through the first frame member from a first side to a second side;
• a valve sub-assembly positioned within an inner passage of the annular frame, the valve sub-assembly comprising a skirt circumscribing the inner passage and attached to the plurality of frame members and a plurality of leaflets attached to the skirt;
• and
• an attachment member attached to one of the skirt or the plurality of leaflets and extending through the first opening such that the attachment member attaches the valve sub-assembly to the frame.

A heart valve prosthesis comprising:

• an annular frame extending along a valve axis between a first end of the heart valve prosthesis and a second end of the heart valve prosthesis, the annular frame comprising a plurality of frame members and configured to be adjustable between a radially-collapsed position and a radially-expanded position;
• an expansion apparatus attached to an interior surface of the frame and extending along an expansion axis parallel to the valve axis, the expansion apparatus configured to move the frame from the radially-collapsed position to the radially-expanded position, the expansion apparatus comprising an expansion opening extending through the expansion apparatus from a first side to a second side;
• a valve sub-assembly positioned within an inner passage of the annular frame, the valve sub-assembly comprising a skirt circumscribing the inner passage and attached to the plurality of frame members and a plurality of leaflets attached to the skirt;
• and
• an attachment member attached to one of the skirt or the plurality of leaflets and extending through the expansion opening such that the attachment member attaches the valve sub-assembly to the expansion apparatus.
