Transcatheter puncture needle system

A puncture needle system, comprising:

• a puncture needle comprising a puncture tip to puncture an opening through a tissue wall;
• a sheath having a tapered shape and comprising a distal end coupled to the puncture needle near the puncture tip to allow the sheath to be translated distally with the puncture needle, the sheath increasing gradually in size from the distal end of the sheath;
• a delivery catheter comprising a first lumen sized to receive the puncture needle and the sheath, a side outlet opening sized to allow extension of the puncture needle and the sheath through the side outlet opening;
• and
• an expandable anchor disposed along an outside surface of the delivery catheter adjacent to the side outlet opening, the expandable anchor adapted to expand to position the delivery catheter.

A puncture needle system, comprising:

• a puncture needle having a biased curved form and comprising a puncture tip to puncture an opening through a tissue wall;
• a sheath coupled to the puncture needle near the puncture tip to allow the sheath to be translated distally with the puncture needle, the sheath increasing gradually in width from a distal end of the sheath;
• and
• a delivery catheter comprising a first lumen sized to receive the puncture needle and the sheath, a side outlet opening sized to allow extension of the puncture needle and the sheath through the side outlet opening, and a curved distal portion distal of the side outlet opening.
