Automatic bolus roi placement using 3d ct surviews

A computer-implemented for facilitating contrast-agent based tomographic imaging, comprising:

• receiving a specification for an imaging operation of an imaging apparatus, and a 3D surview image volume obtained by the imaging apparatus of at least a part of a patient in a preparatory phase prior to a contrast agent assisted imaging phase;
• segmenting for a monitoring region (m-ROI) in the 3D surview image volume, the m-ROI associated with a target anatomical feature as specified in the specification;
• and
• providing a reference location of the segmented m-ROI in the 3D surview volume for facilitating monitoring for presence of contrast agent in relation to the target anatomical feature.

A non-transitory computer readable medium comprising executable instructions which, when executed by at least one processor, cause the at least one processor to perform a method for facilitating contrast-agent based tomographic imaging, the method comprising:

• receiving a specification for an imaging operation of an imaging apparatus, and a 3D surview image volume obtained by the imaging apparatus of at least a part of a patient in a preparatory phase prior to a contrast agent assisted imaging phase;
• segmenting for a monitoring region (m-ROI) in the 3D surview image volume, the m-ROI associated with a target anatomical feature as specified in the specification;
• and
• providing a reference location of the segmented m-ROI in the 3D surview volume for facilitating monitoring for presence of contrast agent in relation to the target anatomical feature.
