Assemblies and kits for mounting objects on walls

A kit for forming into an assembly for hanging an item on a wall, the kit comprising:

• an anchor comprising:
• a base plate and at least one insert plate with a proximal end that is pivotally coupled to a first longitudinal end of the base plate, the at least one insert plate comprising a distal section comprising one or more curved prongs that each extends along an arc to a wall-penetrating end, the base plate further comprising a mating structure comprising first and second horizontally-spaced coupling structures that provide first and second horizontally-aligned and horizontally-spaced coupling spaces;
• and,
• an accessory comprising a complementary mating structure that comprises first and second coupling members,
• wherein the first and second coupling structures of the anchor and the first and second coupling members of the accessory are configured so that the first and second coupling members of the accessory can be received into the first and second coupling spaces of the anchor so that the first and second coupling members of the accessory are supported by the first and second coupling structures of the anchor, in order to install the accessory onto the anchor.
