Aerosol provision device

An aerosol provision device comprising:

• a body;
• a chamber in the body arranged to receive at least a portion of an article comprising aerosol generating material;
• the body having an opening communicating with the chamber;
• and
• a cover mechanism comprising:
• a cover member arranged to selectively at least partially cover the opening;
• an actuating member arranged to rotate on the body to actuate the cover member;
• wherein rotation of the actuating member relative to the body causes the cover member to move between a relatively open position in which the at least a portion of an article is able to pass through the opening and a relatively closed position in which the at least a portion of an article is prevented from being able to pass through the opening;
• and
• a retaining mechanism arranged to releasably retain the cover member in at least one of the relatively open position and the relatively closed position;
• wherein the actuating member comprises a retaining surface;
• wherein the retaining mechanism comprises a retaining member biased against the retaining surface and arranged to slide along the retaining surface;
• and
• wherein the retaining surface is configured to bias the cover member towards at least one of the relatively open position and the relatively closed position over at least substantially the entire range of motion of the cover member between the relatively open position and the relatively closed position.

An aerosol provision device comprising:

• a body;
• a chamber in the body arranged to receive at least a portion of an article comprising aerosol generating material;
• the body having an opening communicating with the chamber;
• and
• a cover mechanism comprising:
• a cover member arranged to selectively at least partially cover the opening;
• an actuating member arranged to rotate on the body to actuate the cover member;
• wherein rotation of the actuating member relative to the body causes the cover member to move between a relatively open position in which the at least a portion of an article is able to pass through the opening and a relatively closed position in which the at least a portion of an article is prevented from being able to pass through the opening;
• and
• a retaining mechanism arranged to releasably retain the cover member in at least one of the relatively open position and the relatively closed position;
• wherein the actuating member defines a channel;
• wherein the retaining mechanism comprises a retaining member arranged to travel at least partially in the channel as the actuating member is moved, the retaining member being biased relative to the channel;
• and
• wherein the channel is configured to bias the cover member towards at least one of the relatively open position and the relatively closed position over at least part of the range of motion of the cover member between the relatively open position and the relatively closed position.

An aerosol provision device comprising:

• a body defining an opening;
• a heating zone arranged to receive at least a portion of an article comprising aerosol generating material inserted through the opening;
• and
• a cover mechanism comprising:
• a cover member arranged to selectively at least partially cover the opening;
• an actuating member arranged to rotate on the body to actuate the cover member;
• wherein rotation of the actuating member relative to the body causes the cover member to move between a relatively open position in which the at least a portion of an article is able to pass through the opening and a relatively closed position in which the at least a portion of an article is prevented from being able to pass through the opening;
• and
• a retaining mechanism arranged to releasably retain the cover member in at least one of the relatively open position and the relatively closed position;
• wherein the actuating member comprises a retaining surface;
• wherein the retaining mechanism comprises a retaining member biased in a direction parallel to the axis of rotation of the actuating member against the retaining surface and arranged to slide along the retaining surface;
• and
• wherein the retaining surface is configured to bias the cover member towards at least one of the relatively open position and the relatively closed position.
