Optimization of spectrum sharing in optical line systems

A method for dynamically rebalancing partitions of an optical spectrum shared between two or more users, comprising:

• identifying that an original partition of the optical spectrum allocated between at least two users, previously established based on an initial value metric, no longer supports the initial value metric due to changes in optical performance;
• and
• responsive to the identifying, adjusting the original partition to rebalance allocations of the optical spectrum among the users to account for the changes in the optical performance.

A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing instructions that, when executed by a processor, cause the processor to perform operations comprising:

• identifying that an original partition of an optical spectrum allocated between at least two users, previously established based on an initial value metric, no longer supports the initial value metric due to changes in optical performance;
• and
• responsive to the identifying, adjusting the original partition to rebalance allocations of the optical spectrum among the users to account for the changes in the optical performance.
