Abstract
A crane-style arcade game has an enclosed prize chamber wherein the prizes comprise RFID tags with assigned point values. an RFID reader reads the RFID tag on a captured prize as the captured prize is moved past the RFID reader. A recording device is connected to the RFID reader to record the assigned point values of the RFID tags of captured prizes read by the RFID reader. A rotary table mechanism is used to move a captured prize past the RFID reader and then to a storage area below the enclosed prize chamber.
Claims10
An arcade game comprising:
- a housing;
- an electro-mechanical prize capturing device mounted in the housing adapted to capture one or more items from a prize display area within the housing and move the captured items to a marker reading area within the housing;
- a reader device adapted to read markers associated with the items, whereby each marker is programmed with a point value;
- a moving device within the marker reading area having a rotary portion adapted to push the captured items past the reader device as the reader device reads the point values and then to an internal storage area;
- and
- a guide adapted and positioned to singulate the captured items before the captured items are moved past the reader by the moving device.
A method of operating an arcade game, said method comprising:
- supplying a plurality of prizes in a visible prize chamber of a crane-style arcade game, wherein each prize comprises an RFID tag assigning a point value to the corresponding prize;
- capturing multiple prizes from the prize chamber with a grabbing mechanism of the crane-style arcade game;
- moving the multiple prizes grabbed by the grabbing mechanism of the crane-style arcade game to a prize reading area;
- singulating and orienting the multiple captured prizes as they are moved to the prize reading area;
- reading the point values of the RFID tags on the captured prizes after they are singulated and oriented by moving the singulated prizes past an RFID reader that reads the point values one at a time as the captured prizes move past the RFID reader;
- and
- saving the point values of the multiple prizes grabbed by the grabbing mechanism to a player's electronic storage medium.
