Abstract
In accordance with an embodiment, a control device stores control software. The control device detects that no people are present within a predetermined area and executes reboot for updating the control software on the basis of detection that no people are present within the predetermined area.

A control device, comprising:
- storage configured to store control software for enabling control on an operation in the device to be executed, the control software including an operation control program for controlling the operation of the device and a software update program for updating the control software;
- and
- a processing circuit configured to
- execute the control on the operation based on the operation control,
- detect, in a case of updating the control software on a basis of the software update program, whether or not no people are present within a predetermined area where the device is installed, and
- execute reboot for updating the control software on a basis of detection that no people are present within the predetermined area.

- storing, in storage, control software for enabling the control to be executed of an operation (printing) in the control device, the control software including an operation control program for controlling the operation of the device and a software update program for updating the control software;
- executing the control on the operation of the control device on a basis of the operation control program;
- detecting, in a case of updating the control software on a basis of the software update program, whether or not no people are present within a predetermined area where the device is installed;
- and
- executing the reboot for updating the control software on a basis of detection that no people are present within the predetermined area.
