Abstract
A terminal to hide a message includes an input unit to receive a signal to hide a message and a signal to restore a hidden message; a display unit to display the message and the hidden message; and a control unit to control display of the message. The terminal hides messages or applications on a separate screen. The separate screen may be a virtual screen or a different display screen. A hidden message may be displayed on the separate screen according to a conversation partner. A hidden message may be restored to a location in which the message would have originally been displayed. A portion of the stored message may be extracted and provided to an application of the terminal.

A terminal, comprising:
- a display;
- a touch panel configured to obtain inputs with respect to the display;
- and
- a controller configured to:
- control the display to display, in a message application, a first message list including at least one message transmitted to a selected contact and at least one message received from the selected contact via a short message service (SMS) and/or a multimedia message service (MMS);
- in response to obtaining, through the touch panel, a first input selecting a particular message from the first message list, control the display to display a first menu for a first operation list including a marking operation;
- in response to obtaining, through the touch panel, a second input selecting the marking operation from the first menu for the first operation list, mark the particular message;
- and
- in response to obtaining, through the touch panel, a third input for requesting display of a second message list consisting of one or more marked messages including the particular message, control the display to display the second message list in the message application,
- wherein the one or more marked messages are transmitted to or received from the selected contact.
A method performed by a terminal including a display and a touch panel, comprising:
- displaying, in a message application, a first message list including at least one message transmitted to a selected contact and at least one message received from the selected contact via a short message service (SMS) and/or a multimedia message service (MMS);
- in response to obtaining, through the touch panel, a first input selecting a particular message from the first message list, displaying a first menu for a first operation list including a marking operation;
- in response to obtaining, through the touch panel, a second input selecting the marking operation from the first menu for the first operation list, marking the particular message;
- and
- in response to obtaining, through the touch panel, a third input for requesting display of a second message list consisting of one or more marked messages including the particular message, displaying the second message list in the message application,
- wherein the one or more marked messages are transmitted to or received from the selected contact.
