Abstract
An image forming apparatus includes: a holder that holds a recording medium being conveyed in a vertical direction; a pressing member that presses a sheet at a lower side of a holding position of the holder; a stiffness detector that detects, as stiffness of the recording medium, a reaction force from the recording medium pressed and bent by the pressing member; and a pressing mover that moves the pressing member so as to suppress misregistration between a distal end portion of the pressing member and the recording medium when the pressing member presses the recording medium.

An image forming apparatus, comprising:
- a holder that holds a recording medium being conveyed in a vertical direction;
- a pressing member that presses a sheet at a lower side of a holding position of the holder;
- a stiffness detector that detects, as stiffness of the recording medium, a reaction force from the recording medium pressed and bent by the pressing member;
- and
- a pressing mover that moves the pressing member so as to suppress displacement of a distal end portion of the pressing member with respect to the recording medium when the pressing member presses the recording medium.
