Abstract
A streetlight apparatus and method involves use of an anti-theft material for deterring theft of electrical wiring from a streetlight. The anti-theft material includes a stack of rings encircling the electrical wiring in the chamber of the base of the streetlight, where each ring of the stack of rings may include a plurality of ring segments that are each individually insertable through an access opening of the base of the streetlight and positioned around the electrical wiring.
Claims20
An enclosure comprising:
- a housing;
- a chamber within the housing;
- an electrical wire extending through the chamber;
- an access opening through the housing that leads to the electrical wire;
- and
- a protective barrier extending around the electrical wire, wherein the protective barrier comprises a plurality of segments and each segment of the plurality of segments is coupled to another segment of the plurality of segments to form the protective barrier.
A method for providing a protective barrier that impedes thieves from stealing one or more electrical wires from an enclosure, wherein the enclosure includes an access opening that leads to a chamber through which the one or more electrical wires extend, the method comprising:
- providing a plurality of segments through the access opening and into the chamber;
- and
- assembling the plurality of segments around the one or more electrical wires while the plurality of segments are in the chamber to form the protective barrier.
A protective barrier assembly that impedes thieves from stealing one or more electrical wires from an enclosure, wherein the enclosure includes a chamber and an access opening to the chamber, wherein the one or more electrical wires extend through the chamber and are accessible through the access opening, the assembly comprising:
- a plurality of segments, wherein each segment of the plurality of segments is configured to be:
- inserted through the access opening and into the chamber of the enclosure;
- assembled in the chamber with at least one other segment of the plurality of segments to form a corresponding segment set of two or more segments that extends around the one or more electrical wires in the chamber;
- and
- coupled to one another to form a protective barrier of a plurality of segment sets extending around the one or more electrical wires in the chamber.
