Abstract
Polybutadiene-based elastomeric adhesive compositions for treating load carrying cords and other textiles for flexible belts, including synchronous belts. The elastomeric adhesive compositions have at least one polybutadiene-based polymer, which when cross-linked, forms covalent bonds with the surrounding belt polymer. The elastomeric adhesive compositions can include a cross-linker and/or a solvent (either aqueous or organic).
Claims16
A belt comprising a body having a plurality of load carrying cords having a polybutadiene-based adhesive composition encased therein.
A method of making a flexible belt, comprising:
- forming a polybutadiene-based adhesive composition;
- coating the adhesive composition onto a plurality of load carrying cords;
- twisting the load carrying cords;
- and
- incorporating the twisted and adhesive coated cords into a polymeric belt.
