Abstract
A pump is provided with an auto-centering pump handle. The pump includes a cylinder, a shaft having a first portion and a second portion, the first portion being disposed within the cylinder and the second portion extending from the cylinder, the shaft being rotationally movable within the cylinder. A handle is secured to the second portion and is movable therewith. A centering mechanism rotates the shaft with respect to the cylinder. The handle can include a mount for an air inflation chuck.
Claims18
A pump comprising:
- a handle;
- and
- a centering mechanism configured to automatically return the handle to a centered position after use.
A pump comprising:
- a cylinder;
- a shaft having a first portion disposed within the cylinder and a second portion extending outside the cylinder, the shaft being rotatable within the cylinder;
- a handle attached to the second portion of the shaft and movable therewith;
- and
- a centering mechanism configured to rotate the shaft relative to the cylinder, thereby returning the handle to a predefined centered position.
The pump of claim 124, further comprising an air inflation tube in fluid communication with the cylinder and the air inflation chuck.
A pump comprising:
- a cylinder;
- a shaft having a first portion disposed within the cylinder and a second portion extending outside the cylinder, the shaft being rotatable within the cylinder;
- a handle attached to the second portion of the shaft and movable therewith;
- an air inflation chuck;
- an air inflation tube in fluid communication with the cylinder and the air inflation chuck;
- a mount on the handle for securing the air inflation chuck;
- and
- a centering mechanism configured to rotate the shaft relative to the cylinder;
- wherein the centering mechanism comprises:
- a first element having an angled surface fixed to the cylinder;
- and
- a second element having a complementary angled surface secured to the shaft or the handle;
- wherein movement of the second element with respect to the first element causes rotation of the shaft and handle, returning the handle to a predefined centered position.
