Gas turbine engine with starting system and method for using the same

A gas turbine engine, comprising:

• a compressor section;
• a combustor section;
• a turbine section;
• an engine shaft in communication with the compressor section and the turbine section;
• an accessory gearbox having a first accessory mounting pad and a second accessory mounting pad, wherein the accessory gearbox is in communication with the engine shaft;
• a first starter mounted on the first accessory mounting pad and a second starter mounted on the second accessory mounting pad;
• and
• a controller in communication with the first starter, the second starter, and a non-transitory memory storing instructions, which instructions when executed cause the system controller to control the first starter and the second starter to provide rotational drive to the accessory gearbox and the accessory gearbox in turn provides rotational drive to the engine shaft;
• wherein the first starter and the second starter are controlled to provide rotational drive to the accessory gearbox until the compressor section reaches a critical rotational speed for a self-sustaining engine cycle.
