A two-stroke engine includes a cylinder with a cylinder bore. A crankshaft is mounted in a crankcase so as to be rotatable about a rotational axis. An intake channel over at least part of its length is divided into at least one mixture and at least one air channel. When viewed in a direction parallel to the rotational axis of the crankshaft, the mixture and the air channel downstream of a fuel supply unit are, at least over one section, curved. The mixture channel, when viewed parallel to the rotational axis of the crankshaft, downstream of the fuel supply unit to a spacing of 5 mm from the bore runs exclusively straight or performs a right-hand bend. The air channel, when viewed in the same direction, downstream of the fuel supply unit up to a spacing of 5 mm from the bore runs exclusively straight or performs a left-hand bend.
