Downhole tool string movement sensor system

A system comprising:

• a processor;
• memory accessible to the processor;
• processor-executable instructions stored in the memory and executable by the processor to instruct the system to:
• acquire motion sensor data using a motion sensor at a motion sensor location of a tool string disposed in a borehole during a field operation;
• transmit the motion sensor data to transfer function circuitry of the tool string;
• operate the transfer function circuitry to apply a transfer function to the motion sensor data to determine one or more of lateral displacement and velocity at a location of the tool string that is a distance from the motion sensor location;
• and
• characterize sensor data acquired by a sensor at the location using at least one of the one or more of the lateral displacement and the velocity.

One or more non-transitory computer-readable storage media comprising processor-executable instructions executable to instruct a processor to:

• acquire motion sensor data using a motion sensor at a motion sensor location of a tool string disposed in a borehole during a field operation;
• transmit the motion sensor data to transfer function circuitry of the tool string;
• operate the transfer function circuitry to apply a transfer function to the motion sensor data to determine one or more of lateral displacement and velocity at a location of the tool string that is a distance from the motion sensor location;
• and
• characterize sensor data acquired by a sensor at the location using at least one of the one or more of the lateral displacement and the velocity.
