(canceled)
A microfluidic chip for three-dimensional in vitro organoid culture, the microfluidic chip comprising:
- a center microfluidic channel comprising a cell-laden hydrogel;
- at least one side microfluidic channel adjacent to the center microfluidic channel and comprising a surface bearing endothelial cells that form a lumen within the at least one side microfluidic channel;
- and
- retinal pigment epithelial cells disposed on and into contact with the cell-laden hydrogel.

A method of fabricating a microfluidic chip for three-dimensional in vitro organoid culture, the method comprising:
- casting a cell-laden hydrogel into a center microfluidic channel of the microfluidic chip;
- seeding endothelial cells into at least one side microfluidic channel of the microfluidic chip to form a lumen within the at least one side microfluidic channel;
- and
- seeding retinal pigment epithelial cells into contact with the cell-laden hydrogel.
