Ultraviolet light absorbing agent

Abstract

Provided are an ultraviolet absorber in which a slope to the long-wavelength side of the absorption peak is steep and which efficiently absorbs light from a long-wavelength ultraviolet light region to a short-wavelength visible light region while inhibiting the absorption of visible light by adjusting the added amount thereof, and a transparent member and resin composition containing said ultraviolet light absorber. The ultraviolet absorber according to the present invention is represented by a general formula (1) defined as: wherein, in the formula, each of R1 and R3 to R9 independently represents a monovalent group selected from a hydrogen atom, a hydrocarbon-containing group, a sulfur-containing group, a nitrogen-containing group, and an oxygen-containing group. At least one of R6 to R9 represents a monovalent sulfur-containing group that has a sulfide bond. R2 represents a hydrogen atom.
