Abstract
A woven laminated plastic bag having features that further prevent leakage of contents out of the bag, or infestation of organisms into the contents of the bag is provided. In various aspects the bag can be fabricated from woven polypropylene and/or a polyethylene film layer which can be laminated with a film layer, can form a black bottom bag, and can have graphics and/or printing. The bag can also provide a top end and/or a bottom end either or both of which provide a discrete area which may contain discrete graphics and/or printing. The bag can also include a covered easy open feature with a pull tab that facilitates easy opening of the bag. The bag may be made of recyclable materials.
Claims22
A block bottom woven bag for bulk material, the bag comprising:
- a front wall, a back wall, a first side wall, and a second side wall, wherein each of the front wall, back wall, first side wall, and second side wall comprise a laminate consisting essentially of a first layer comprising woven strips consisting essentially of polypropylene and a second layer consisting essentially of a biaxially oriented polypropylene film, wherein the first layer and second layer are laminated together, and wherein the laminated first layer and second layer form a block bottom bag;
- and
- wherein the block bottom bag further comprises an easy open feature located on at least one surface of the bag, and wherein the easy open feature is covered by a cover consisting essentially of polypropylene and having a pull tab at one end thereof located on an exterior surface of the bag;
- and
- wherein the bag is configured to hold at least ten pounds of a bulk material without tearing when the top end and the bottom end of the bag have been sealed, wherein the easy open feature can be opened when a user pulls on the pull tab.
A recyclable bag formed from a tubular material, wherein the tubular material comprises a laminate comprising a first layer comprising woven strips comprising polypropylene and a second layer comprising an oriented film comprising polypropylene, and wherein the first layer and second layer are laminated together, and wherein the tubular material is configured to form a bag that has a front panel, a first side panel, a back panel, a second side panel, a top panel, and a bottom panel, with the bag configured to be hold at least ten pounds of a material without tearing when the top panel and the bottom panel are sealed, with at least one of the top panel and the bottom panel sealed with heat sealing, and wherein at least one surface of the bag has a weakened portion covered by a cover having a pull tab, wherein the cover comprises polypropylene, wherein a user can open the weakened portion of the bag by pulling on the pull tab, and wherein the bag is recyclable.
A block bottom bag for bulk items, the bag comprising:
- a front panel;
- a back panel;
- a first side panel connecting a first edge of the front panel to a first edge of the back panel;
- and
- a second side panel connecting a second edge of the front panel to a second edge of the back panel, wherein each of the front panel, the back panel, the first side panel and the second side panel have a top end and a bottom end, and wherein each of the front panel, the back panel, the first side panel, and the second side panel are formed from a sheet of material comprising a laminate having a first layer comprising woven strips consisting essentially of polypropylene and a second layer comprising a film consisting essentially of polypropylene;
- and
- wherein the top end and the bottom end of the front panel, the back panel, the first side panel, and the second side panel are configured to form a top panel and a bottom panel when the bag is filled with a bulk material and the top end and the bottom end of the front panel, the back panel, the first side panel, and the second side panel are sealed;
- and
- wherein at least one of the front panel, the back panel, the first side panel, the second side panel, the top panel, or the bottom panel comprise a weakened portion having a cover thereon, wherein the cover comprises polypropylene and wherein a user can open the bag at the weakened portion by pulling on the cover.
