A brake system includes a vehicle electro-mechanical brake provided on a wheel of a vehicle, a vehicle electro-mechanical brake controller controlling the vehicle electro-mechanical brake, and a controller including a communication circuit, connected to the vehicle electro-mechanical brake controller through the communication circuit, and configured to transmit a first control signal for controlling the vehicle electro-mechanical brake to the vehicle electro-mechanical brake controller, and the controller is configured to be connectable to a trailer electro-mechanical brake controller controlling a trailer electro-mechanical brake provided on a wheel of a trailer coupled to the vehicle through the communication circuit, and the controller is configured to transmit a second control signal for controlling the trailer electro-mechanical brake to the trailer electro-mechanical brake controller.
