Abstract
A bicycle wheel includes a rim, and a bicycle tire having a tire body, a tread layer having a ground-contact surface, and a belt disposed around the tire body and located between the tire body and the tread layer. An included angle between cords of the tire body and an imaginary equatorial line is between 70 and 90 degrees, and an included angle between cords of the belt and the imaginary equatorial line is between 0 and 40 degrees. A ratio of a tire height to a tire width is less than or equal to 0.8, and a ratio of an inner rim width of the rim to the tire width is greater than or equal to 0.75. Accordingly, the bicycle tire and the bicycle wheel provide excellent comfort, maneuverability, and high-speed performance.
Claims14
A bicycle wheel comprising:
- a bicycle tire and a rim;
- the bicycle tire defining an imaginary equatorial line and comprising:
- a tire body having a plurality of cords defining with the imaginary equatorial line an included angle greater than or equal to 70 degrees and less than or equal to 90 degrees;
- a tread layer covering the tire body and having a ground-contact surface configured for contacting a ground;
- and
- a belt disposed around the tire body and located corresponding to the ground-contact surface and between the tire body and the tread layer, the belt having a plurality of cords defining with the imaginary equatorial line an included angle greater than or equal to 0 degrees and less than or equal to 40 degrees;
- wherein, in a cross-section of the bicycle tire, a tire width and a tire opening that is opposite to the ground-contact surface are defined, a maximum distance between the tire opening and the ground-contact surface is defined as a tire height, and a ratio of the tire height to the tire width is less than or equal to 0.8;
- wherein the bicycle tire includes two bead portions defining the tire opening;
- wherein the rim has a tire mounting opening, and the two bead portions of the bicycle tire are mounted to the tire mounting opening of the rim;
- wherein the tire mounting opening of the rim defines an inner rim width, and a ratio of the inner rim width to the tire width is greater than or equal to 0.75.
A bicycle tire defining an imaginary equatorial line, the bicycle tire comprising:
- a tire body having a plurality of cords defining with the imaginary equatorial line an included angle greater than or equal to 70 degrees and less than or equal to 90 degrees;
- a tread layer covering the tire body and having a ground-contact surface configured for contacting a ground;
- and
- a belt disposed around the tire body and located corresponding to the ground-contact surface and between the tire body and the tread layer, the belt having a plurality of cords defining with the imaginary equatorial line an included angle greater than or equal to 0 degrees and less than or equal to 40 degrees;
- wherein, in a cross-section of the bicycle tire, a tire width, a tire opening opposite to the ground-contact surface, and a tire opening width defined by the tire opening are defined,
- wherein a maximum distance between the tire opening and the ground-contact surface is defined as a tire height, and a ratio of the tire height to the tire width is less than or equal to 0.8;
- wherein the tire opening width of the bicycle tire is configured to fit a rim having an inner rim width, and a ratio of the inner rim width to the tire width is greater than or equal to 0.7.
