A product handling device for a handling of stacks of packaging blanks (12), comprising:

• at least one handling unit (18) comprising support and/or contact elements (20, 22, 24) which have a support surface (26, 28, 30) against which, at least during handling, the stack of packaging blanks (12) can be placed with a main extension surface (32), and
• at least one detection unit (122) which is configured for the detection of at least one packaging blank characteristic variable;
• wherein the at least one detection unit (122) comprises at least one detection element (124) for a detection of a packaging blank characteristic variable that is configured as a contour of at least one packaging blank (12) of the packaging blanks (12), and comprises at least one further detection element (126, 128) for a detection of a packaging blank characteristic variable that is configured as a position of a cutout (70, 72) between two side tabs (74, 76, 114, 116) of a packaging blank (12) of the packaging blanks (12).
