Shielding device of opening portion for a bridge type machine tool

A shielding device of an opening portion for a bridge type machine tool which comprises a table that moves in a left-right horizontal direction (X-axis);

• two columns disposed on opposite sides of the table and installed in a vertical direction;
• a cross rail mounted on the columns in a fore-aft horizontal direction (Y-axis) and movable in an up-down direction (Z-axis);
• a saddle mounted on the cross rail and movable in the fore-aft horizontal direction (Y-axis);
• a ram spindle mounted on the saddle and having a tool mounted to be rotatable in a horizontal or vertical direction;
• a tool magazine installed on one side of one column and carrying various tools;
• an automatic tool changer (ATC) arranged on one side of the tool magazine such that when the ram spindle on the cross rail moves to a tool-exchange position the tool is exchanged between the spindle and the tool magazine, the shielding device comprising:
• a cover installed in a vertical direction to surround a side edge of the table;
• an opening portion provided at one side of the cover where the magazine and the automatic tool changer are installed, extending from a cross rail to a lower body of the bridge type machine tool so that the cross rail can be raised and lowered through the opening portion;
• a multi-stage slide cover foldably installed in the opening portion in the up-down direction (Z-axis) and slidably movable in the left-right direction (X-axis);
• and
• an open and close device installed on one side of the opening portion for sliding the slide cover in the left-right direction (X-axis).
