Abstract
Disclosed herein is a foam breaker unit for breaking a liquid foam into a liquid phase and a gas phase comprising a vessel comprising shear stress elements made of ceramics, plastics or steel, the ceramics, plastics or steel interacting with the liquid foam, thereby causing the breaking of the liquid foam, for separating the liquid phase and the gas phase of the liquid foam characterized in that the longitudinal axis of the vessel is declined with respect to the horizontal plane at an angle α ranging between −60° and 0.0°.
Claims19
A system comprising a reactor wherein a liquid foam is formed, and a foam breaker unit for breaking a the liquid foam into a liquid phase and a gas phase, wherein the foam breaker unit comprises:
- a vessel comprising shear stress elements made of ceramics, plastics or steel, wherein the ceramics, plastics or steel shear stress elements interact with the liquid foam, thereby causing the breaking of the liquid foam, for separating the liquid phase and the gas phase of the liquid foam;
- a vessel inlet for receiving the liquid foam from the reactor;
- and
- one or more vessel outlets for removing the liquid phase and the gas phase from the vessel;
- characterized in that a longitudinal axis of the vessel is declined with respect to a horizontal plane at an angle α of less than 0.0° and above −60.0°, wherein the longitudinal axis of the vessel refers to the axis along a lengthwise direction of the vessel between a side of the vessel comprising the vessel inlet and the side of the vessel comprising the vessel outlet(s).
A foam breaker unit comprising a vessel comprising a vessel inlet for receiving a liquid foam from a reactor;
- shear stress elements made of ceramics, plastics or steel, wherein the ceramics, plastics or steel shear stress elements interact with the liquid foam, thereby causing the a breaking of the liquid foam, for separating a liquid phase and a gas phase of the liquid foam;
- and one or more vessel outlets for removing the liquid phase and the gas phase from the vessel;
- wherein, in installed position, a longitudinal axis of the vessel is declined with respect to a horizontal plane at an angle α of less than 0.0° and above −60.0°, wherein the longitudinal axis of the vessel refers to the axis along a lengthwise direction of the vessel between a side of the vessel comprising the vessel inlet and the side of the vessel comprising the vessel outlet(s) for breaking a the liquid foam into a the liquid phase and a the gas phase.
