A magnetic spinning toy system is discussed herein. In some examples, the magnetic spinning toy system can comprise a frame, a first component rotatably mounted within the frame having a first plurality of magnets disposed about its perimeter, and a second component rotatably mounted within the frame adjacent to the first plate having a second plurality of magnets disposed about its perimeter. The first and second components can be independently rotatable about axes. In some cases, the axes are substantially parallel. Rotational energy can be magnetically coupled between the first and second components through interaction of the first and second pluralities of magnets. The system may include bearings mounted in the frame to support rotation of the components. The components may be circular, rectangular, or square. The magnets may be arranged with poles facing perpendicular to the axes of rotation of the components.
