Abstract
A football training device includes a stand, an alignment assembly, and an interface. The stand is configured to hold a football in an upright position on its ends. The alignment assembly is configured to properly align the stand with goalposts and to illustrate marks on the ground for proper positioning of the kicker. Electronic marking devices create marks on the ground to represent proper distance and positioning for the kicker relative to the football. The marking devices may be manually controlled or electronically controlled. The interface receives distance data from a user and automatically processes it to generate position data. The position data is transmitted to the marking devices to selectively orient the mark a set distance relative to the football.
Claims20
A football training device for kicking a football, comprising:
- a stand having an arm;
- a post extending from the arm;
- an alignment assembly coupled to the post, the alignment assembly is configured to aid alignment of the stand and user relative to the football;
- and
- an interface configured to regulate the selective marking of positions relative to the football;
- wherein the interface is configured to orient the alignment assembly.
A football training device for kicking a football, comprising:
- a stand having an arm;
- an alignment assembly in communication with the post, the alignment assembly including:
- a sight configured to view a distant object and permit for the alignment of the stand with the distant object;
- and
- a marking device configured to illustrate a mark relative to a position of the football;
- and
- an interface configured to receive distance data and process position data from the distance data, the position data being sent to the marking device to selectively orient the marking device to provide the mark.
A method of training to kick a football, comprising:
- obtaining a stand configured to hold a football on its ends;
- aligning the stand with goalposts;
- orienting an alignment assembly to provide one or more marks on the ground;
- and
- selecting a particular location for the one or more marks, the one or more marks defining a stepping routine.
