A bracing and connecting bracket and a sports goal employing first and second such brackets. The goal has a framework formed by a continuous flexible member with first and second bends that divide the framework into first and second U-shaped portions. First and second bracing and connecting brackets receive and stabilize the bends and the goal in general. Each bracket is formed from first and second bracket members that define a raceway for the framework. First and second opposed strap slots, each for receiving an elongate strap, enable a strap connection between the bends using either slot so that the brackets are reversible. Opposed clamping formations extend from base walls of the bracket members to engage and stabilize the framework. The clamping formations cause the raceway to have a height approximately equal to a framework thickness. A ballast attachment aperture enables an elongate ballast to span between the brackets.
