The invention is notably directed to a method of emulating aerodynamic drag of a user (2) of an exercise bike (20, 20a). The exercise bike has a pedalling system (22, 22a), which is subjected to a variable resistance. The method comprises repeatedly performing a series of steps at a processing device (10). This series of steps comprise processing sensor signals, computing a drag-related quantity, generating a control signal encoding the computed quantity, and transmitting the generated control signal to a control unit (25) for it to modify said resistance in accordance with the transmitted control signal. The processed sensor signals are signals that are initially received from a set of sensors (50) worn by the user as the latter trains on the exercise bike by actuating the pedalling system. Thus, the sensor signals depend on a body posture of the user (2). The drag-related quantity is a quantity that determines the aerodynamic drag. It may notably be a drag force, or a combination of a frontal area and a drag coefficient, for example. This quantity is computed based on the processed sensor signals. Thus, it also depends on the body posture of the user. The invention is further directed to related systems and computer program products.
A method of emulating aerodynamic drag of a user of an exercise bike having a pedalling system subjected to a variable resistance, wherein the method comprises, at a processing device, repeatedly performing a series of steps comprising:
An aerodynamic drag emulation system for emulating aerodynamic drag of a user of an exercise bike having a pedalling system subjected to a variable resistance, wherein the system comprises a processing device configured to:
A computer program product for emulating aerodynamic drag of a user of an exercise bike having a pedalling system with a variable resistance, the computer program product comprising a non-transitory computer readable storage medium having program instructions embodied therewith, the program instructions executable by processing means of a processing device to cause the latter to repeatedly:
