Systems and methods for generating and distributing fire-retardant across specific surfaces of a structure (e.g., house, townhome, multi-family dwelling, etc.) in order to increase resistance to ignition in the case of wildfire may be activated by timer after the occupants of the structure have evacuated, and can be set to re-cycle to enable multiple treatments of the structure in case of delay of arrival of first-responders. The system also can be activated remotely. The self-contained nature of these designs enables the systems to be operated effectively without need for access to municipal water supply or electricity supply, both of which can be unreliable during a firestorm.
