Abstract

A closed intravascular (IV) catheter system may extend in a distal-proximal direction along a central axis. The catheter system may include a catheter hub, a tube connector, and a septum. The catheter hub may include a tubular catheter and a catheter hub cavity. A proximal end of the tubular catheter may be attached to a catheter hub body. The catheter hub cavity may be in fluid communication with a lumen of the tubular catheter. The tube connector may be in fluid communication with the catheter hub cavity. The tube connector may extend laterally from the catheter hub body. The septum may be arranged inside the catheter hub cavity proximally to the tube connector. The septum may include a socket between a distal end and a proximal end of the septum. The socket may extend distally past a waist arranged on an internal surface of the catheter hub cavity.
