Abstract
There is provided an intraoral formulation comprising a solid, porous chemically bonded ceramic system, nicotine or a salt thereof, and a pH regulating agent, wherein the chemically bonded ceramic system is formed in the absence of said pH regulating agent. The formulations comprise nicotine and have particular utility in aiding smoking cessation, treating nicotine dependence, alleviating the symptoms of nicotine dependence and other medical uses for which nicotine is known.

An intraoral formulation comprising
- a solid, porous chemically bonded ceramic system comprising calcium;
- nicotine or a salt thereof located in pores in the chemically bonded ceramic system;
- and
- a pH regulating agent;
- wherein the chemically bonded ceramic system of the intraoral formulation
- is formed in the absence of said pH regulating agent;
- and
- is formed in the presence of the nicotine or a salt thereof such that said nicotine or salt thereof is located in the pores in the chemically bonded ceramic system.
