Abstract
A positioning system for a surgical procedure is provided. The positioning system may include a surgery table, a spar base, and a spar extending from the spar base to support at least one leg of a patient. The spar base may be positioned beneath a platform of the surgery table and may translate a distance along the surgery table.
Claims20
A spar for supporting a leg of a patient for a surgical procedure, the spar comprising:
- a proximal end configured to couple to a surgery table;
- a distal end opposing the proximal end;
- a joint disposed between and configured to couple the proximal end to the distal end, the joint further configured to rotate and flex the spar in a generally posterior direction when coupled to the surgery table, the joint comprising an angle between the proximal end and the distal end configured to be reduced as the joint is rotated;
- and
- a foot support coupled to and disposed at the distal end of the spar and configured to secure a foot of the leg of the patient,
- wherein the spar is configured to flex in the generally posterior direction as the leg is flexed in a generally anterior direction opposing the generally posterior direction such that the leg is able to flex away from the spar and without the spar being directly between an upper leg and a lower leg of the leg when the leg is flexed.

A system for supporting a patient for a surgical procedure, the system comprising:
- a surgery table comprising a distal end, a proximal end opposing the distal end, and a platform configured to support at least a portion of the patient;
- a first spar configured to support a first leg of the patient, the first spar comprising:
- a proximal end coupled to the surgery table,
- a distal end opposing the proximal end of the first spar,
- a joint disposed between and configured to couple the proximal end to the distal end of the first spar, the joint further configured to rotate and flex the spar in a generally posterior direction when coupled to the surgery table, an angle between the proximal end and the distal end configured to be reduced as the joint is rotated, and
- a foot support coupled to and disposed at the distal end of the first spar and configured to secure a foot of the leg of the patient;
- a second spar configured to support a second leg of the patient, the second spar coupled to the surgery table;
- and
- an operable leg drape portion configured to be disposed over at least a portion of the first leg,
- a non-operable leg drape portion configured to be disposed over at least a portion of the second leg, the operable leg drape and the non-operable leg drape configured to form a sterile zone between the first leg and the second leg, and allow a user to stand between the first leg and the second leg,
- wherein the first spar is configured to flex generally in a posterior direction as the leg is flexed generally in an anterior direction opposing the posterior direction such that the leg is able to flex away from the spar and without the spar being directly between an upper leg and a lower leg of the leg.
