A hip implant system includes an artificial acetabular cup and an artificial acetabular liner. The liner includes or consists of a metal or an alloy, and is coated at least in sections with a ceramic coating.

A hip implant system comprising:
- an artificial acetabular cup;
- and
- an artificial acetabular liner comprising a metal or an alloy,
- wherein the artificial acetabular liner is coated at least in sections with a ceramic coating,
- wherein the ceramic coating comprises a plurality of chromium nitride layers, and
- wherein one of the plurality of chromium nitride layers is formed directly on the artificial acetabular liner.
