Abstract
Provided herein are retractors for use in radial head procedures. The retractor may include an elongated body including a feature configured to engage a capitellum. The retractor may further include a bifurcated end portion configured to engage a radius bone. The bifurcated end portion may include a first protrusion and a second protrusion. A first free end of the first protrusion and a second free end of the second protrusion may be offset from a plane defined by the elongated body.
Claims20
A retractor for a radial head procedure, the retractor comprising:
- an elongated body, the elongated body comprising an opening configured to engage a capitellum;
- and
- a bifurcated end portion configured to engage a radius bone, wherein the bifurcated end portion comprises:
- a first protrusion and a second protrusion, wherein a first free end of the first protrusion and a second free end of the second protrusion are off set from a plane defined by the elongated body.
A retractor for a radial head procedure, the retractor comprising:
- an elongated body, the elongated body comprising:
- a first portion defining a first plane;
- a second portion defining a second plane angled relative to the first plane;
- and
- a third portion defining a third plane angled relative to the second plane;
- a feature configured to engage a capitellum;
- and
- a bifurcated end portion proximate the first portion of the elongated body, the bifurcated end portion configured to engage a radius bone, wherein the bifurcated end portion comprises:
- a first protrusion and a second protrusion, wherein a first free end of the first protrusion and a second free end of the second protrusion are offset from the first plane.
A method for retracting a radius using a radial retractor, the radial retractor comprising:
- an elongated body comprising a feature configured to engage a capitellum;
- and
- a bifurcated end portion comprising a first protrusion and a second protrusion, wherein a first free end of the first protrusion and a second free end of the second protrusion are offset from a first plane defined by the elongated body,
- the method comprising:
- inserting the bifurcated end portion of the radial retractor into an incision site having a radius bone;
- placing the radial bone between the first protrusion and the second protrusion of the bifurcated end portion of the radial retractor;
- and
- applying a force on the radial retractor to elevate the radial bone away from the capitellum, wherein applying the force causes the feature to engage with the capitellum.
