A computer-implemented method for generating a coordinated coronary artery disease visualization from medical image data on a single graphical user interface, the method comprising:
- accessing, by a computer system comprising one or more processors and an electronic storage medium, a medical image of one or more coronary arteries of a subject, the medical image comprising a computed tomography (CT) image set of the subject;
- identifying, by the computer system from the CT image set using one or more image-processing algorithms, the one or more coronary arteries, a lumen wall, and a vessel wall for at least one coronary artery, and one or more regions of plaque;
- determining, by the computer system from the CT image set, an atherosclerosis measure, the atherosclerosis measure comprising one or more of quantified volume of calcified plaque or quantified volume of non-calcified plaque, the atherosclerosis measure determined based at least in part on radiodensity values;
- determining, by the computer system from the CT image set, a stenosis measure for the at least one coronary artery based at least in part on the lumen wall and the vessel wall;
- determining, by the computer system, a presence or risk of ischemia based at least in part on one or more of the stenosis measure or the atherosclerosis measure;
- generating, by the computer system, on a first panel of a single graphical user interface, a three-dimensional coronary artery tree representation of the one or more coronary arteries generated from the CT image set, the three-dimensional coronary artery tree representation depicting at least one annotation corresponding to the determined presence or risk of ischemia or the atherosclerosis measure;
- receiving, by the computer system, an input selecting a coronary artery in the first panel;
- in response to the input selecting the coronary artery, generating, by the computer system on a second panel of the single graphical user interface, a depiction of at least a portion of the selected coronary artery in a plurality of straightened multiplanar reformat views generated from the CT image set, the plurality of straightened multiplanar reformat views being displayed at different rotational aspects of the selected coronary artery and adjacently positioned relative to one another, wherein the plurality of straightened multiplanar reformat views includes a depiction of the lumen wall and the vessel wall to illustrate the stenosis measure and further includes at least one annotation corresponding to the determined presence or risk of ischemia or the atherosclerosis measure;
- generating, by the computer system on a third panel of the single graphical user interface, a cross-sectional view of the selected coronary artery generated from the CT image set;
- associating, by the computer system, locations along the plurality of straightened multiplanar reformat views in the second panel with corresponding cross-sectional views in the third panel such that selection of a particular location along the selected coronary artery in the plurality of straightened multiplanar reformat views causes display in the third panel of the cross-sectional view corresponding to the particular location;
- and
- generating, by the computer system, in the cross-sectional view in the third panel, a plaque overlay comprising a first color for calcified plaque and a second color different from the first color for non-calcified plaque,
- wherein the first panel, the second panel, and the third panel are concurrently displayed and spatially coordinated to provide, on the single graphical user interface, a multivariable view of stenosis, atherosclerosis, and ischemia for the selected coronary artery.
