Field-installable refrigerated cabinet kit with on-cabinet refrigeration system

A field-installable refrigerated merchandiser kit comprising:

• a reach-in cabinet module having a width, the reach-in cabinet module comprising a bottom wall extending along the width, a back wall extending along the width, and a top wall extending along the width, the reach-in cabinet module comprising a plurality of doors opposite the back wall, the plurality of doors being arranged in series along the width to provide front reach-in access to the reach-in cabinet module, the reach-in cabinet module further comprising ducting for distributing refrigerated air through the reach-in cabinet module, the ducting comprising a first plenum wall under the top wall and a second plenum wall in front of the back wall, the reach-in cabinet module comprising a bottom shelf adjacent the bottom wall, the reach-in cabinet module configured to define a free refrigerated space, the free refrigerated space being a single undivided space accessible from any of the plurality of doors, the free refrigerated space having a free refrigerated space height extending from the bottom shelf to the first plenum wall, the free refrigerated space height being at least 62 inches, the free refrigerated space having a free refrigerated space depth extending from the plurality of doors to the second plenum wall, the free refrigerated space depth being at least 24 inches, the first plenum wall defining inlet openings configured for passing return air from the free refrigerated space into the ducting and the second plenum wall defining a plurality of outlet orifices configured for discharging refrigerated supply air from the ducting into the free refrigerated space, the top wall of the reach-in cabinet module defining a plurality of refrigeration system mounting locations at spaced apart locations along the width, each refrigeration system mounting location of the plurality of refrigeration system mounting locations including a port above the first plenum wall in communication with the ducting and one or more integrated connection fittings adjacent the respective port, the reach-in cabinet module having a unit height extending from a top of the top wall to a bottom of the reach-in cabinet module, the unit height permitting the reach-in cabinet module to pass upright through a man door having a height of 82 inches;
• a plurality of cantilevered shelves configured to be cantilevered from the back wall of the reach-in cabinet module, the plurality of cantilevered shelves having a front-to-back shelf depth of at least 22 inches;
• a plurality of refrigeration system modules configured for being field-installed on the reach-in cabinet module to form a refrigerated merchandiser, each refrigeration system module of the plurality of refrigeration system modules comprising a base and a self-contained refrigeration circuit supported by the base such that the self-contained refrigeration circuit moves with the base during field-installation, each self-contained refrigeration circuit comprising an evaporator, a compressor, a condenser, an expansion device, and interconnecting refrigerant tubing, each self-contained refrigeration circuit being factory-charged with r290 refrigerant, each refrigeration system module of the plurality of refrigeration system modules configured to be field-installed on the reach-in cabinet module at a respective one of the plurality of refrigeration system mounting locations such that the base is positioned on the top wall adjacent the respective port and supports the evaporator of the self-contained refrigeration circuit in relation to the respective port for fluid communication with the ducting for cooling return air from the inlet openings for discharge as refrigerated supply air via the plurality of outlet orifices, each refrigeration system module of the plurality of refrigeration system modules configured to support the condenser on the base above the top wall out of fluid communication with the ducting, each base comprising complementary connection fittings configured to align with the one or more integrated connection fittings of the respective refrigeration system mounting location to facilitate fastening the base to the top wall at the respective refrigeration system mounting location;
• and
• a shroud configured to be field-installed on the top wall of the reach-in cabinet module to conceal the plurality of refrigeration system modules installed at the plurality of refrigeration system mounting locations.
