Visual Communication System for a Helmet

A riding/driving guidance module for a helmet, the guidance module comprising:

• a communication device configured to receive riding/driving guidance from a remote device, wherein the riding/driving guidance is based on one or more of traffic information and motion information;
• an LED array configured to emit one or more visual alerts to a peripheral region of an eyeport of the helmet based on the riding/driving guidance;
• and
• a controller configured to process the riding/driving guidance and control the LED array,
• wherein a visual alert of high importance is displayed by the LED array as a red light pattern, and
• wherein a visual alert of medium importance is displayed by the LED array as an orange light pattern.

A controller configured to:

• receive a system command from a software application associated with riding/driving guidance from a remote device;
• and
• cause an array of light emitting devices to generate a light pattern associated with the riding/driving guidance at a peripheral edge of an eyeport of a helmet,
• wherein the array of light emitting devices is positioned so as not to obstruct an eyeport of the helmet and the light pattern is visible in a peripheral vision portion of a user of the helmet, and
• wherein the riding/driving guidance is based on information gathered via at least one of weather sources, traffic sources, sensors associated with the helmet, or sensors associated with a vehicle ridden/driven by a user of the helmet.
