## Abstract

A method of displaying streamed content includes receiving streamed content from a server, decoding the streamed content, outputting the decoded streamed content for display, and estimating a degree of attention of a user on the streamed content, where the decoding step comprises decoding the content to a quality that is dependent upon the estimated degree of attention of the use.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A server system, comprising:
one or more processors; and
one or more computer-readable media storing instructions which, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the server system to perform operations comprising:
receiving user feedback related to streamed content displayed on a user terminal;
determining an encoding process for at least a portion of the streamed content based on the user feedback;
compressing the streamed content using the determined encoding process, wherein at least one portion of the streamed content is compressed at a different compression quality than another portion of the streamed content; and
transmitting the compressed streamed content to the user terminal.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The server system of claim 1, wherein the user feedback indicates a degree of attention of a user to the streamed content.

### Claim 3 (depends on 2)

The server system of claim 2, wherein the attention of the user corresponds to a region of interest within the streamed content.

### Claim 4 (depends on 3)

The server system of claim 3, wherein the region of interest is determined based on gaze tracking data or user interaction history.

### Claim 5 (depends on 3)

The server system of claim 3, wherein frames within the region of interest are compressed using a first rate.

### Claim 6 (depends on 1)

The server system of claim 1, wherein the different compression qualities for the at least one portion and the another portion are achieved using a single encoder operable to switch between a high-quality mode and a low-quality mode.

### Claim 7 (depends on 1)

The server system of claim 1, wherein the different compression qualities for the at least one portion and the another portion are achieved using a plurality of encoders including a high-quality encoder and a low-quality encoder.

### Claim 8 (depends on 1)

The server system of claim 1, wherein the user feedback comprises at least one of: eye tracking data, input device activity, biometric signals, and inferred engagement metrics.

### Claim 9 (depends on 1)

The server system of claim 1, wherein the operations further comprise:
receiving updated user feedback during display of the streamed content on the user terminal; and
adjusting a compression quality for subsequent portions of the streamed content based on the updated user feedback.

### Claim 10

A method, comprising:
receiving user feedback related to streamed content displayed on a user terminal;
determining an encoding process for at least a portion of the streamed content based on the user feedback;
compressing the streamed content using the determined encoding process, wherein at least one portion of the streamed content is compressed at a different compression quality than another portion of the streamed content; and
transmitting the compressed streamed content to the user terminal.

### Claim 11 (depends on 10)

The method of claim 10, wherein the user feedback indicates a degree of attention of a user to the streamed content.

### Claim 12 (depends on 11)

The method of claim 11, wherein the attention of the user corresponds to a region of interest within the streamed content.

### Claim 13 (depends on 12)

The method of claim 12, wherein the region of interest is determined based on gaze tracking data or user interaction history.

### Claim 14 (depends on 12)

The method of claim 12, wherein frames within the region of interest are compressed using a first rate.

### Claim 15 (depends on 10)

The method of claim 10, wherein the different compression qualities for the at least one portion and the another portion are achieved (i) using a single encoder operable to switch between a high-quality mode and a low-quality mode, or (ii) using a plurality of encoders including a high-quality encoder and a low-quality encoder.

### Claim 16 (depends on 10)

The method of claim 10, wherein the user feedback comprises at least one of: eye tracking data, input device activity, biometric signals, and inferred engagement metrics.

### Claim 17 (depends on 10)

The method of claim 10, further comprising:
receiving updated user feedback during display of the streamed content on the user terminal; and
adjusting a compression quality for subsequent portions of the streamed content based on the updated user feedback.

### Claim 18
