Optical module, network device, and data transmission method

An optical module, comprising:

• a housing containing an electrical interface and a plurality of optical interfaces, wherein the electrical interface is connected to a network device outside the optical module, and the plurality of optical interfaces are connected to an optical fiber outside the optical module;
• an interface chip;
• disposed in the housing, wherein the interface chip comprises:
• a plurality of Ethernet interfaces,
• a flexible Ethernet (FlexE) interface disposed opposite to the electrical interface, and
• a processing circuit disposed between the FlexE interface and the plurality of Ethernet interfaces, wherein the processing circuit is configured to:
• convert a FlexE block stream received by the FlexE interface into a plurality of Ethernet block streams, and output the plurality of Ethernet block streams to the plurality of Ethernet interfaces, and the plurality of Ethernet interfaces are in one-to-one correspondence with the plurality of optical interfaces;
• and
• an optoelectrical conversion device disposed in the housing, wherein one end of the optoelectrical conversion device is electrically connected to the plurality of Ethernet interfaces of the interface chip, and the other end of the optoelectrical conversion device is disposed opposite to the plurality of optical interfaces.

A data transmission method, applied to an optical module, comprising:

• receiving a first flexible Ethernet (FlexE) block stream from a first network device through a FlexE channel, wherein the optical module is communicatively connected to the first network device through the FlexE channel;
• obtaining a plurality of first Ethernet block streams based on the first FlexE block stream;
• performing electrical-to-optical conversion on the plurality of first Ethernet block streams, to obtain a plurality of first optical signals;
• and
• sending the plurality of first optical signals to a second network device through an optical fiber.
